WWRL 1600 PRESENTS “CLAY CANE LIVE”
October 25, 2011 – WWRL 1600, New York’s progressive radio station is proud to announce Equality Pride Radio, programming geared to the LGBT community. Equality Pride Radio kicks off October 31, 2011 from 10pm to midnight.
Thursday nights at 11pm will be hosted by renowned journalist and television personality Clay Cane. “I am excited for this opportunity and ecstatic that ‘RL is expanding their already diverse audience. There is no other programming on the radio dial that reaches the LGBT community in New York City,” says Clay. “It’s going to be a late night extravaganza! I’m bringing my own brand of commentary and everyone is welcomed to join in: gay, straight, bi, lesbian, trans, undecided – this is a no judgment zone. We’ll have celebrity guests, a dose of politics and cover all things pop culture.”
Clay is a graduate of Rutgers University, Phi Beta Kappa, with a B.A. in English and African-American Studies. Clay has contributed to numerous publications such as The Root, theGrio, AOL, HX Magazine, Instinct Magazine and The Advocate. He has interviewed various celebrities, including Beyoncé Knowles, RuPaul, Nicki Minaj and Hilary Swank. Clay is currently a member of New York Film Critics Online and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association.
“Clay Cane Live” will be co-hosted by writer and actress J’Nara Corbin, best known for her work in the LGBT indie flick Finding Me.
“Clay Cane Live” will air every Thursday on the same station as the nationally syndicated Rev. Al Sharpton radio program. General Manager Adriane Gaines says, “We are pleased that Clay is joining a stellar line-up of new voices on WWRL. Equality Pride Radio will connect the audience with their own special messages and style. The range of subjects will promote and embrace mutual respect, self-esteem, entertainment, financial security, health & wellness and a better understanding of our neighbors.”
These LGBT programs will air Monday-Friday, 10pm to midnight on AM 1600 WWRL and wwrl1600.com.
