Upcoming web series, ‘HerStory,’ focuses on trans and queer women’s dating lives

An upcoming scripted dramatic web series, HerStory, will focus on the dating lives of trans and queer women characters in Los Angeles. Co-written by Jen Richards and Laura Zak, and directed by Sydney Freeland (Drunktown’s Finest), the plot of HerStory centers on the stories of two trans women played who, after giving up on love, have chance encounters that start to shift their perspectives. Richards and trans entrepreneur Angelica Ross star in the leading roles. The series is being produced by Katherine Fisher from Speed of Joy Productions, and executive produced by The Vagina Monologues playwright Eve Ensler.

While HerStory‘s principal photography was completed in May 2015, they are working to finish post-production on the series’ pilot and havelaunched an IndieGogo campaign to support the process. In a video accompanying the campaign, Richards explains, “We’re particularly excited to share HerStory with the world because not only does the subject matter center the experiences of queer and trans women, but it was made by us as well, including our writers, our directors, our stars, and two-thirds of our cast and crew.” Zak adds that their goal is to make the pilot available for free online.
