“The future of Black film. Pure cinematic power.” (Hollywood Reporter) 🛸✨ NEPTUNE FROST is like nothing you’ve ever seen. This punk sci-fi musical from Saul Williams + Anisia Uzeyman wowed audiences at Cannes + Sundance.

Later this month, on Monday, June 27, as part of our 50/50 series, we’re excited to bring you Frederick Wiseman’s riveting masterpiece, PUBLIC HOUSING, presented on 16mm . The doc shines a spotlight on residents of Chicago’s now-demolished Ida B. Wells public housing development and their frustrations with the government agencies supposedly set up to help them.

And don’t forget: entries for our Black Harvest Film Festival are due July 15! More info here.

“The future of Black film. Pure cinematic power.”
– Hollywood Reporter

Multi-hyphenate, multidisciplinary artist Saul Williams brings his unique dynamism to this Afrofuturist vision, a sci-fi punk musical that’s a visually wondrous amalgamation of themes, ideas, and songs that Williams has explored in his work. Co-directed with the Rwandan-born artist and cinematographer Anisia Uzeyman, the film takes place in the hilltops of Burundi, where a group of escaped coltan miners form an anti-colonialist computer hacker collective.

From their camp in an otherworldly e-waste dump, they attempt a takeover of the authoriatarian regime exploiting the region’s nature resources — and its people. NEPTUNE FROST is an invigorating and empowering direct download to the cerebral cortex and a call to reclaim technology for progressive political ends.
