I was saddened to hear the news that transgender rights advocate/activist Monica Roberts has transitioned. She was a powerful advocate using her platform to speak out against discrimination and violence.  In 2011, Ms. Roberts was honored by PrideIndex.com with an Esteem Award for Outstanding Service Transgender  for her work as a Lecturer and Founder of TransGriot Blog. It was an honor and privilege to have known her. She will be missed by the entire LGBTQ community.
