In Memoriam: Renae Ogletree August 2, 1950 – April 23, 2010
It is with much regret we announce that Chicago longtime gay activist Renae Ogletree, 59, has died due to complications related to lung disease.
PrideIndex.com had planned to announce on May 1, Ms. Ogletree was going to receive a Special Recognition award for a lifetime of service to the gay community. “Chicago has lost a true solidier in the fight for LGBTQ rights,” said Philip Esteem, founder of the Esteem Awards.
A memorial service for Ms. Ogletree is scheduled May 1 at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark Street, at 11:00AM. Additional details will be forth coming.
Ms. Ogletree was inducted in Chicago’s Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 1988 RENAE OGLETREE – Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame
