In Memoriam: Kashan Fields
Singer/Songwriter Kashan Ray Fields, 36, has a passed away. According to sources, the popular performer died on Saturday January 4, 2014.
Fields was a regular fixture on the music circuit performing at Billie Black’s in Harlem, Pie Hole in Chicago and venues across the country. In 2010 he performed at the Esteem Rising fundraiser for the Esteem Awards at Sidetrack video bar in Chicago.
Born in 1977 in rural west Tennessee, Fields used music as an escape from shyness. “I would lock himself away in his bedroom and become immersed in the finger snaps and rhythms, the drums and guitar; beaten and strummed by soulful lyrics of love, lust, deceit and pain,” said Fields during a 2010 promotional interview with TheEsteemAwards.com.
Friends and fans alike have posted numerous photos, video performances and tributes to Fields on his facebook page. Here are a few.
I met you once, and your ability, to draw people to you with your performance was magical to say the least. I pray that your family and friends find the strength to pull through your leaving. I thank you for that wonderful performance that you gave during Pastry Chef Danielle Moore event in Harlem a couple years ago. R.I.P my brother. – Ken Murphy
