
Chicago born, Los Angeles resident Derek Dow is an actor, filmmaker and writer. Dow holds an MFA from USC, and a BA from Chicago State University.
He has several film projects to his credit including “LAAP Presents,” “Family Values,” “Cee’s Machine,” “Beyond the Sole” and “Condoms.” He also created the web series “Black Man Depressed” which was inspired by his experiences in Los Angeles.
In October 2014 Dow won a Black Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement in film for his short “Condoms.” which was shown earlier this summer at The Black Harvest Film Fest in Chicago. We chatted with Dow just earlier this summer. He talked about his love of filmmaking, what advice he would offer to others and his personal connection with shoes.
