Shreveport born, Atlanta resident Jericho Brown is a writer and poet. Brown holds an MFA from New Orleans University, and a BA from Dillard University.
He’s has written several books including PLEASE, a book of poems that won the American Book Award in 2008. Before earning his PhD in Creative Writing and Literature Brown worked as a speechwriter for the mayor of New Orleans. Currently he is an assistant Professor at Emory University.
Brown will be signing his book at the AJC Decatur Book Festival on Saturday August 30 and Sunday August 31. He talked to us about why he loves writing, teaching young people and how much he enjoys the career that he’s always wanted.
