Pride on Film: BLACKBIRD

The first annual Houston Splash Film Event screening of the film BLACKBIRD takes place Saturday May 9 at University of Houston – Student Affairs Theater from 9:00PM-11:00PM.

Houston Splash is hosted by Sean Dawson, Derick Miles along with Loud Inc, a 501 C (3) organization.  Splash is a premiere urban LGBT event that caters to African-American and Latino men and women drawing more than 7,500 people from across the country.

Academy Award winner Mo’Nique, Executive Producer Keith Brown, Director Patrick-Ian Polk and lead actor Torrey Laamar Belcher will be available for a Question and Answer Panel session immediately following this epic film premiere.

Byron Canady, the coordinator of  Houston Splash’s film event, sat down with PrideIndex to discuss the importance of bringing movies based on content, creativity, quality and social impact to the annual pride celebrations.
